Double Tenor

    note layout

The double tenor pan has a tonal range of two and a half octaves. There are 15 - 17 notes on

each drum. The notes are separated by a double groove which allows for a  less harmonic

arrangement of the notes than in other steel pans.

The double tenor was created to expand the range of notes in the early steel band.

Its function is to support the tenor melody line and provide harmonic support.
