Pan in the 21st Century

Pan in the 21st Century is an annual competiton for conventional steelbands and is held in Trinidad during the months of April and May.

The competition was created by Pan Trinbago to promote steelband outside of the Panorama arena. It was first held in 1998.

Entrants consists of between 30 and 50 players and must be members of Pan Trinbago.

Originally, each steelband performed a contemporary Rhythm and Blues tune, but from the beginning of the millennium the steelband had to play a non-calypso tune that post dates 2000. The duration of the tune must be approximately six minutes and not be typical of a Panorama arrangement.

The Competition is sponsored by the Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TTST) since its inception.
