Cases
Steelpans are made from a very strong material, but like all things great they do have weaknesses, hence it is advisable to protect your instrument where possible.
If your pan is painted, a case will protect the paintwork.
If it is chromium plated, a case will protect the surface.
Bass Cases
Hard cases, usually similar to bass drum cases are sometimes used for second tenors, guitars and cello pans.
Cases should be used to protect the pans when transporting them and to make it easier when packing them into a van or trailer.
A case is important for these pans, just as it is for any other instrument.
If you cannot afford hard cases, you can purchase or make cloth covers to protect the surface of the pans.
